VisitMalta Receives Navigator Excellence Award

The Malta Tourism Authority is pleased to announce that VisitMalta has been awarded the prestigious Navigator Magazine Excellence Award for Destination, further reinforcing Malta’s position as one of the Mediterranean’s leading hubs for the superyacht sector.

The award was presented by Daniel Wade, Global Head of Partnerships and Chief Content Officer, during Seatrade Cruise Global 2026, held from 13–16 April. The presentation took place at the VisitMalta stand, highlighting the destination’s growing prominence within the global maritime and cruise industries.

Accepting the award on behalf of VisitMalta were Arthur Grima, Director of Marketing at the Malta Tourism Authority, and Michelle Buttigieg, Representative of the MTA’s North American Market. Presented by Navigator, the publication of global yacht brokerage firm Northrop & Johnson, the award recognises destinations that demonstrate excellence in maritime infrastructure alongside strong destination appeal. Malta was selected for its unique combination of world-class facilities and rich cultural offering.

Malta’s Growing Appeal among Cruise and Yachting Audiences

“We’re delighted to recognise VisitMalta with this award,” said Daniel Wade. “Malta’s blend of strategic positioning and destination appeal truly sets it apart within the Mediterranean.”

Arthur Grima, in accepting the award, noted: “Malta, strategically positioned at the heart of the Mediterranean, continues to play an important role in global cruising itineraries while also serving as a premier base for superyacht operations.”

Michelle Buttigieg added: “There was a time when many Americans weren’t even sure where Malta was. Today, that has completely changed. American travellers have truly discovered Malta, drawn by its rich history, culture and unique Mediterranean appeal, as well as the growing visibility of mega yachts and cruise ships calling in Valletta, which has helped put the destination firmly on the map.”

Malta boasts the largest number of registered mega yachts in the world, reinforcing its reputation as a premier yachting destination. The islands are also home to several renowned marinas, including Msida Yacht Marina, Mġarr Harbour and Vittoriosa Yacht Marina, the latter twinned with Saint-Tropez.
