EU Legal Affairs Office
The EU Legal Affairs Office of the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) serves as the central point of reference for matters relating to European Union law and policy affecting the tourism sector. Its role is to ensure that the Authority remains fully compliant, informed and responsive to EU legislative and policy developments.
The Office monitors, analyses, and assesses existing and proposed EU legislation with potential direct or indirect implications for tourism. It provides legal advice to MTA management, directorates, and industry stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making and the effective representation of Malta’s tourism interests at EU level. The Office also advises on the alignment of national legislation and MTA operations with applicable EU legal requirements.
Acting as the principal liaison with EU institutions, national authorities, and tourism stakeholders, the EU Legal Affairs Office represents the MTA in EU meetings, working parties, and consultations, and contributes to national processes for the transposition and implementation of EU legislation. Through briefings and information sessions, it ensures that legal developments are clearly communicated across the Authority and the wider tourism sector.
